No help from other teams again last night which seems to be the rule more than the exception on this run. It's ok, if they take care of their own business.

Bill,
How do you think Medvedev gets back into the lineup. Seems like Manning has surpassed him in Hackstol's eyes.
At this point in the season, "injury" is the only way he gets in. This late, coaches have decided who their "go to" players are and Medvedev clearly is not on that list. He is talented, but is also wildly inconsistent. That kind of unpredictability is what keeps coaches up at night. Manning isn't great, by any stretch. But at least his game is consistent...

Several injuries. Otherwise he's not playing.
Manning has actually played some pretty solid hockey of late. I still don't think he's much more than a 6-7 guy, but he's been OK and that's all you can ask of a guy of his abilities.
At his best, Medvedev should be a top 4 guy on this team. The trouble is, when he's gotten an opportunity he hasn't played well and too often is guilty of a bad turnover or dumb play. Even though he's more talented than Manning, MacDonald and probably others, he hasn't been able to translate that except in spurts.

He should be playing over MacDonald - PhillySportsGuy
A valid argument could be made there, because MacDonald is failing the stats test horribly and the eye test hasn't been too kind to him either.
The thing with AMac is, he's had several really good defensive plays that stick out over the past week or two. But he has not played well. With Medvedev, though, there's multiple mistakes every period it seems.

I'd be ok with MacDonald as a third pairing guy. I just don't like him with Ghost. He shackles him with his poor neutral zone play.
The only thing Ghost isn't great at is defensive zone play and with MacDonald, he's forced into more of those situations. I just feel the team is playing to his weaknesses. I'd much rather see Ghost with Gudas. That would be a good top pairing.

I don't disagree. I'm just trying to look at it from Hakstol's view point. That said, Hakstol's line up has been one of the 5 best Eastern teams since January, so I can't really nitpick the decisions.
No, I don't feel it's an optimal line up, but it's worked for an extended period of time. Besides, I'm enjoying things too much to quibble.
